City of Goodlettsville announces rare full time firefighter and paramedic opening with competitive benefits

Goodlettsville, Tennessee – The City of Goodlettsville is searching for a new firefighter to join its full-time department, announcing what officials described as a rare opening within the city’s emergency response team.

City leaders said the department is looking for a highly qualified candidate capable of handling a wide variety of emergency calls and response situations. Officials noted that the Goodlettsville Fire Department operates as a very busy single-station department that regularly faces diverse response challenges throughout the community.

According to the city, starting pay for an EMT Firefighter 1 position is set at $57,570 annually, while certified Paramedic Firefighter 1 applicants can earn a base salary of $61,600.

Officials emphasized that the department is especially focused on increasing the number of full-time paramedics currently serving within the agency.

Department Highlights Benefits and Workplace Culture

City officials promoted the position as an opportunity for candidates interested in fire-based non-transport advanced life support services.

“The city is particularly interested in expanding our full time Paramedic level staff,” the announcement stated. “If Fire based non transport ALS is for you, click the link below.”

Leaders also highlighted the department’s benefit package and workplace environment as major reasons employees remain with the city long term.

According to the announcement, the city offers a fully city-paid individual health insurance plan along with participation in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System Public Safety Bridge retirement program.

Additional benefits include paid training opportunities, quality equipment, and pay incentives tied to higher education achievements and Fire Inspector certifications.

Officials described the department culture and broader city work environment as key strengths that help attract and retain employees.

“Our benefit package is second to none and the culture of the department as well as the city overall is why people stay,” the announcement said.

Applicants interested in the opening are being encouraged to review the city’s official job announcement and submit applications through the Goodlettsville Human Resources page.

City officials say the position offers candidates an opportunity to join a department focused on professional development, emergency medical response, and long-term career growth in public safety.
