Apple Fritter Bread

Apple Fritter Bread
* 3 cups flour
* 1 package yeast
* 1/4 tsp. salt
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 cup water
* 1 egg, beaten
* 3/4 cup milk
* 1/4 cup butter
* 6 apples, peeled and diced (next time I will use 3.  6 as a TON of apples!)
* 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 1 tsp. vanilla
* 2 Tbsp. butter
* 1 tsp. cinnamon
* 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
* 1 Tbsp. butter, softened
* 1 tsp. vanilla
* 3/4 cup powdered sugar
* 3 tsp. half and half (or milk)
Grease a 9×5 loaf pan and set aside.
In a skillet, cook apples, lemon juice, brown sugar, vanilla, butter, cinnamon and cornstarch until thickened.  Set aside to cool.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it bubbles.  Remove from heat and add butter.  Stir until melted.  Set aside.
In a mixing bowl add flour, yeast, salt and brown sugar.  Mix until combined.  Add water, egg and milk/butter mixture and mix until it forms into a ball.  Mix/knead for an additional 5 minutes.
Roll dough out in the shape of a rectangle on a generously floured surface.
Evenly spread apple mixture over dough.  Cut into squares.
Stack the squares into your pan.  I turned the pan on it’s end to make this easier.
Bake for 45 – 50 minutes in a 350 degree oven, until golden brown.
Remove from pan and let cool.
In a mixing bowl, mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and milk and mix well.  Pour glaze over the bread and allow it to set for a few minutes.
Enjoy warm or cold!  (I vote for warm.)  =o)

Look at how yummy this looks!

See why I’ll be making this again?  =o)
